Who we are

On behalf of the Australian grain industry, the National Working Party on Grain Protection (NWPGP) is the body responsible for providing management and leadership to industry in the areas of post-harvest grain storage and hygiene, chemical use, outturn tolerances, international and domestic market requirements and chemical regulations. It co-ordinates and provides the Australian government with industry views on chemicals in use on grain and associated products, as they relate to market access domestically and for exported commodities.

Australian Grain Storage & Protection Conference

The NWPGP 2022 Australian Grain Storage and Protection Conference is an open forum for the entire grains industry to review and discuss the latest market requirements relating to chemical regulations and developments in grain storage and protection.

The NWPGP has been meeting annually for over 45 years, however, the annual conference, delegate list and industry representation continues to expand and evolve – constantly striving to meet industry’s needs.

This year's NWPGP event will take place face to face in Melbourne over the two days. Delegates & Sponsors have the option to attend the conference in person and promote their products and services to a highly targeted and engaged industry audience. 

Presenters will cover national and international regulation along with a range of topics including:

  • Market requirements for MRLs - now and future challenges
  • Sustainable chemical use and impacts on industry 
  • Insect infestation and their control methods
  • Pesticide residue violations & traceable findings
  • Grain protectants do have a use 
  • Fumigants and challenges for their use
  • Physical control methods to maintain grain quality 
  • Extension activities along the supply chain

ORGANISING BODIES


The National Working Party on Grain Protection (NWPGP) is the body responsible for providing management and leadership to industry in the areas of grain storage, chemical use, market requirements and chemical regulations. NWPGP is funded by Grains Australia.

The Conference is proudly supported and organised by Grain Trade Australia (GTA). GTA supplies standardised grain trading standards, trade rules, grain contracts and training and development for the Australian grain industry to enable the efficient facilitation of trade across the grain supply chain.
